Collection: Balance Boards
A balance board is the smallest piece of movement equipment that keeps working for years. It takes almost no floor space, leans against a wall when not in use, and gives a child the one thing an ordinary room cannot: an unstable surface.
That instability is the point. Standing on something that moves forces constant small corrections from the ankles, trunk and inner ear — the balance system a child otherwise develops outdoors, and that gets very little practice indoors from November to March.
In play, a board is rarely used as a board. It becomes a bridge, a boat, a slide, a tunnel, a rocking seat, a stage. Open-ended is why it survives the shelf clear-out that most toys do not.
Which one, and for whom
Rocker boards are curved and sit directly on the floor. The starter size has a gentle curve for a child finding their feet from around a year old. The classic arch is steeper, more versatile and carries an adult — which is why it stays in use long past the age most equipment is outgrown. If you are unsure, choose the larger one: a child grows into it rather than out of it.
Surf balance boards are a different exercise. The board sits loose on a cork roller that moves freely underneath, and nothing holds it in place — the same edge-to-edge weight shift as a board on water. This is genuinely hard, and it is what a child who has outgrown a rocker board moves on to. Rated to 100 kg, so it works for a ten-year-old and a parent equally, and the roller doubles as a stretching roller. Not a toddler product: use it on a rug, and stay close while a child is learning.
All boards are birch plywood with water-based, non-toxic finishes, made in Europe. Delivered to your door for €16.99, free on orders over €249.
