Family-scl

Family-scl is a family workshop in Misa, Latvia, making children's furniture by hand since 2017. Everything is cut from birch plywood, sanded round at every edge and finished with non-toxic lacquer — furniture built to be climbed on, drawn on and sat on for years.

What they make

Two things, mostly. Furniture shaped like animals — the Bunny table and chair, where the ears are the backrest and the silhouette is the whole design. And learning towers and Pikler climbing frames that let a small child reach the kitchen counter or climb safely indoors.

The pieces are deliberately compact. A Finnish flat rarely has a spare corner, and these are sized to fit one.

Why we stock them

Handmade in the EU, no plastic, no flame retardants, no long supply chain. The workshop is small enough that the people who cut the plywood are the people whose name is on the box.
